Cars

Touring Moscow, we saw a variety of cars, from the very old Soviet "classics" representing Communism utility, to the pinnacle of status and wealth, most unlike the Soviet ideals.

Since Moscow has the greatest number of millionaires of any city in the world, it probably made sense that they would have the most expensive cars. We saw three Maybachs in the week we visited Moscow. For those who haven't heard of a Maybach, let's just say, the "introductory" model starts at $350,000. I think this one starts at $410K.

Some wedding party had this limo.

Parking is a premium in a city built for public transit. Any flat space will work, as will some not so flat spots, evidently!

Here is the predecessor to the the Lada, the "Chevy" of the Soviet cars. We found Ladas everywhere, some with Cyrillic and some with Roman lettering for export cars going to other countries (like East Germany, Hungary, Poland, etc.)

Another Lada (newer model). This one seemed a very common model, a "Sputnik"! Note the badges are in Cyrillic, with Lada to the left, and Sputnik to the right.

I'm not sure what's going on here. There is a Yeild sign at the top, truck going one way, arrow the other, traffic light, and a sign reading "Stop". No wonder the traffic is a free for all!
