Galley Tour 24-NOV

Touring the bridge and engine control room was interesting and fun.  But what is more important to a cruiser than food?!!  So, our trip wasn't complete without a tour of the galley!  Like the other two tours, they began with a Security Escort to the "off limits" area.

The kitchen is downstairs from the main dining room, so there are stairs of course (and an elevator) down, but they have an escalator going up, because it is safer and more efficient for service.

The tour was in the early afternoon, so lunch was over, and it was a bit early for dinner.  Thus, the kitchen was rather quiet.  But a few folks were busy with prep.  They have an area exclusively for red meats, separate from chicken, and another for bread and another for fruits and vegetables, as one might expect.  But even the knives and the cutting boards are color coded for the product, to avoid cross contamination.

I wonder what is in that bottle on the counter?

Dinner rolls anyone?  10 dozen coming up!

Gasp!!!  The liquor jail!!  (they wouldn't let me any closer!)

The coffee dispensers are lined up on the right.
Look!  It's our morning hash!!
Let's see if our dinner looks like it is supposed to look?

Pretty close!  (but the picture doesn't have bread or a fork)

  2. Who knows? I think there was a blue, a black (I think the black was one of the higher levels), maybe a red or green. Maybe Theresa will weigh in on this one. But they all had to wear their colors (sort of like a gang) to indicate which group they were (Chef, Asst Chef, peon, swabbie, etc.).
