SEATTLE—Saturday 29

Saturday began early with our flight to Seattle. Our friend Bruce picked us up at the airport, and we headed over to his and Joan’s house. After Erin, our Goddaughter, finished dance class, Theresa and I took her to lunch and got to spend some time with just the three of us. It was really nice to spend time just with her. But the big plans were to have dinner with all of us (Bruce, Joan, Erin, Richard, Theresa, and me) at the Space Needle restaurant to celebrate Erin’s upcoming 14th Birthday. We had a wonder evening. The food was great, but the views were spectacular. We had unseasonably clear and calm weather, so got to see Mt. Rainier as well as the Olympic mountains. We arrived toward the end of the day, and enjoyed an amazing sunset over dinner, watching downtown turn from dusk to sunset to night.

After dinner, we went up the observation deck where Richard, 2nd Grade, enjoyed all of the features, including one display that let you adjust a time lapse scene over a 24 hour period. There was a little dial that would change the time lapse by minutes, or another one that turned it by hours at a time. Richard made sure to spin through a 12 hour period minute by minute. A small crowd gathered behind him as he steadfastly put on his personal show.

We played on the large stone balls out front before getting the car and finally going home.
