Day 17—Jan-03—Return to Singapore! (Part 1)

Fishing boat between Indonesia and Borneo (100 miles each way)
Today and tomorrow are “just” sea days, so we aren’t exactly expecting excitement, but some easy relaxation.  We went to Mass first thing in the morning, and then breakfast, then the first trivia quiz.  It was kind of funny that several of the questions were “American”, which was good for us, but not so good for our British and Aussie team mates.  But, that made is “useful”.  Turns out the Aussies have no idea which Constitutional Amendment was repealed!  (Prohibition)

Euchre and Nachos.
Eventually, we made it to lunch, where they were having “Dim Sum”, which is sort of like “Chinese Sushi”, in that it is bite sized portions of things, but Dim Sum is usually steamed (so hot) and doesn’t usually have rice.  Anyway, it was pretty good.  We went back to the room intending to watch a movie they were to have, but they had the wrong one on…a repeat from another day, and one we’ve already seen.  Oh well.  We’ll watch Bourne another time!  But, we ordered room service (“Nachos”) and played cards.  The nacho chips included corn chips (OK), and flour chips (huh?).  The nacho cheese was actually quite good, but came in a little dish smaller than the chips, so you couldn’t really dip them.  The salsa was just chopped vegetables, so that didn’t really work.  Oh well.  It was free!

We had dinner with the Priest again, and shared a table with two ladies from Sweden, a couple from Florida, and a woman from Canada.  The conversation?  Well, among other things, the health of the Queen (of England), the King of Sweden, and assorted world travels.  We did get to see a pretty amazing sunset, but the window was too dirty to get the cameral to focus on the sky.  (Sorry).  After dinner, we grabbed some money and headed to the casino, where we turned $8 into $10!  (Yay!!)
