Day 11 - Heading Home Part I

To all of those people who say Barcelona is beautiful...
Not seeing it from our room!
We had to be out of our room by 8, and off the ship by 9, so we got up at 7, made it to breakfast by 7:45, and off the ship about 8:30ish.  Sadly, it will be the last Baby Lamb Chops for breakfast in a while.  Also, they pulled up a bunker boat to refuel the ship, but we didn’t get to stay and watch!

La Sagrada Familia church (probably).

Bunker time!!

It was a short taxi to the airport, and we found ourselves standing in front of the check-in counters while they were changing over from Qatar to ITA (which took a while).  But we were officially the first ones to check in for our flight.

Who doesn't like watching fueling??!  :-)

The "Best Lounge" (in 2013) has hot dogs.  Which weren't.
We found our way to the lounge, and had a morning beer, and a hot dog (and some other things).  The lounge overlooked a McDonald’s which was sort of funny!

We were playing 2 person Euchre.  Trump was clubs.

So close...and yet...so far!

Row 1.  Middle Seat blocked!

We had flown Alitalia a number of years ago, but they went under.  They were “reborn” as ITA, using the same tired planes with fresh paint on the outside and not much work on the inside.  But, in Row 1, I sort of had some legroom, and we did get … lunch?  Anyway, in barely over an hour we were back in Italy, and deplaning onto a bus to the terminal.

Bill's view.

Bill's legroom.

Bill's neighbor's view (other side of the plane).

Bill's lunch.

Watching F1 race in nearby Monza.
There is a Hilton a medium walk from the airport, so we collected our bags and headed over.  The nice thing about this hotel is that it is so convenient for layovers.  But the bad thing is there is NOTHING else around.  So, we settled in a bit to enjoy some hanging out time, and see what they have to offer in the lounge for dinner!  Turns out a Formula 1 race (Monza) was on, and our plane over here had a special livery for 100 years of Monza F1 racing.  And we have a friend over there right now, so it seemed fitting use of our day!

Home sweet home.  For now.

Ghosts of airline's past.

Stumpy, our plane today!

Dinner.  Meh.
