All Aboard!! (well, not "all", but we're on!)
We had an early morning as our train left at 8:52, and we
had to get up, packed, eat, and get down the hill to our train without being
late. Breakfast was...Continental. Bread, deli cuts, and fruit. So, we made a couple of sandwiches, which
probably would offend anyone paying attention.
We boarded the train right away, and found our seats. All of the seats had to be reserved and it
was fully booked, so First Class was full and we had reserved two seats in
Second, and not even window seats. But,
as the train pulled away, no one had shown up so we spread out in the four-person
area and pretended it was FC.

Theresa's view (part of the way).
As we pulled into our first stop (Brig), we prepared for
someone to show up, and show up they did!!
This couple came with an infant.
Not really sure how that was supposed to work out.
They took one side and we moved to the other,
and it worked pretty much ok (so long as they didn’t change the diaper on the
shared table!)
The scenery was cool.
Unfortunately, pictures seem to hardly do it justice. (and reflections in the windows were challenging!) But we tried, so here are a few to share.

People were playing in the snow most of the way.

Snow.

Frozen lake and the partial tunnel we went through (protects the track from snow and avalanches). |

Losing the daylight!
On the route, we debated getting off at Chur, or continuing
to St. Moritz.
This is probably the most
chaotic and unplanned trip we’ve taken in a long time!!
We have 2-4 options for getting home on either
of two days.
We could get off here and
head to Liechtenstein for the night, or continue to Moritz and do Liechtenstein
tomorrow.
And as we sat there on the
train, we didn’t know!!
Well, we found
out there should be some FC seats from Chur to St. Moritz, so we’re going to stay
on, move up, and then turn around and head to Vaduz (the Capital of Liechtenstein)
tonight.
It will be a long day, but we
think it will make tomorrow easier.
Once we moved up, we had a little more room. We had hoped to order something to eat, but
when they came around the first time, having eaten at 7AM, we didn’t think we
needed lunch at 11. They didn’t tell us it
was “now or never”, nor that the food would be served about 11:30AM Anyway, we couldn’t get anything to eat, so
as it passed 4PM, we started wondering about options. We had some snacks, but chips and such only go
so far, and besides, we were almost out of water.
As we arrived in St. Moritz, Bill took the bags and headed
to our next train, and Theresa went to find a shop with at least water, but
maybe a sandwich.
In just enough time,
she came back with water.
Well, we won’t
die of thirst, at least.
Also, the train
had WiFi, so we might get this posted enroute!
Unfortunately, the trip from St. Moritz was in the dark, so we have no pictures to share from it!
