Days 4 and 5 - a Dinner Party

The IATA Energy Forum continued these two days, with Theresa working hard from the room/executive lounge (they have killer coffee and cookies in the afternoon!).

On the evening of Day 4, there was a dinner party – technically called a Networking  Dinner – sponsored by IndiaOil.  It was in the large garden of the Grand hotel.  We had a little issue getting TO the dinner, as the bus took us to the wrong hotel, we all got off the bus and went through “security” – picture 40 people going through a scanner as it continually buzzed, then stood around the lobby while someone asked and found out we were in the wrong place.  Then, got back on the road to head to the correct hotel.

At the Grand Hotel, they had a welcome for us, where there was a drum corp, and we were greeted with a bindi (the red dot on the forehead), and a shower of fresh flower petals.

The garden was beautifully lit, with a large bar in a gazebo in the center, and a stage and tables at one end.  We came in to get a drink (beer or wine).  As soon as we received the drink, they called people to sit – our bus was apparently the last to get there – I guess getting lost for ½ hour will do that!

Dinner was good, though, to the uninformed (me), the taste palette was much the same for most of the main meals.  The best thing for me was this spicy pineapple they had.  Just chucks of pineapple covered with something spicy.  I looked for what it was on the internet, but had no luck!

For entertainment, they had a speeches, a movie on India Oil, a dance troupe, and a jazz band.  It was a really nice evening!

The next day, Bill had his presentation about fuel quality.  I think it went well – he received a compliment when I was sitting with him at dinner.  I just worked on the budget, invoicing, and forecasting…nothing major here ðŸ˜Š
