Day 17 - Last Day at Sea!

Good Morning!
Well, last night we got to bed early, and the clocks rolled back another hour.  So, of course, we woke up stupid early.  We finally got up about 5:30 or 6, and got dressed to do some laps on the track upstairs.  Theresa did about 20 minutes worth, wrapping up about the time Mike and MaryAnne showed up (Mike to run, MA to walk).  Bill took about 30 minutes to get a full 2 miles, during which, for the first time he was PASSED while walking…by a Grandpa at that! (You go Mike!).  As I was heading back down to the room, I realized I didn’t think to bring my room key.  Well, Theresa would probably let me in, so long as she wasn’t in the bathroom showering or something.  So, I got to the door, knocked briskly, rang the door bell twice, and knocked again.  I wanted to make sure she knew it was me and get the door, not think it was the room steward and have to get “decent”.  Imagine my surprise when Pablo, one of our trivia team mates answered the door with a quizzical and surprised look on his face!!  I looked at the room number, noticed it was 7031, not 7027…and apologized profusely!!

Drinks by the pool!
We got cleaned up and met M&MA for breakfast at the grill on Deck 10.  This was our last day to have Pumpkin Pancakes, so 3 of us took that opportunity!  (Bill got the lobster benedict).  Theresa and MaryAnne wanted to go swimming, so Mike and Bill cheerfully (if not sincerely) joined them wading into the pool.  At least once we were done having “fun”, we were rewarded with pool drinks (well, Bill, since Mike doesn’t really drink).  Then we all went to a “Travel Trivia” – a cheap grab for more points!  It was fun, but rather silly.

For lunch, they had a “Seafood Extravaganza” with all sorts of shrimp, crab, lobster, various fishes, etc.  Even the deviled eggs had salmon roe on it!  MaryAnne was happy to find many non-seafood options, while the rest of us indulged!

We did a little preliminary packing, then Theresa watched a couple of enrichment lectures (on spies) and Bill spend a little final time with the puzzle.  Later, we opened a couple of beers, and prepared to dialogue (a communication exercise we try to do daily to keep our relationship good).  Bill took a work call, but we got back to the veranda with beers in hand.

Seafood!

A suitable afternoon treat!

And then an even better afternoon treat!!

Happy Birthday Theresa!! (almost)

Then our butler showed up, and was bringing in a birthday cake to celebrate Theresa’s Birthday (a bit early)!!  We aren’t sure if we told them when we booked the cruise or not, but if so, we’d completely forgotten, so it was a surprise!  We invited Mike and MaryAnne to join us, and sang Happy Birthday to Theresa (more fun for three of us than just Bill).

It was time to head back for the final trivia competition.  We noticed they had set up the table for buying Silversea swag with the prize points.  We counted our points and looked at the sheet, and made a few lists of options depending on what the stuff looked like.  Well, we had almost 400 points, which let us get the wine opener (much nicer than we expected) and an apron for Theresa.  On to the trivia.  When Pablo showed up, there was much joking about the early morning intrusion.  He took it very well, and we shared the story with our Scottish friend, who thought it was hilarious!!  It parlayed into a few other jokes throughout the 45 minutes.  We all had some great laughs!!  Our final competition resulted in second place, which gave us 6 points each (usually 3) or 42 points.  Theresa convinced the team to “donate” their points to Bill so he could get a little foam “squeeze” ship.  It was 50 points, but she gave it to me anyway, so it will decorate my cube area later this week!

We passed this guy during the trivia.  He was not moving...
and kind of looks like he isn't going to move!

Last drinks!!

We cleaned up a bit and headed to our “last supper”.  We managed to get them to move a little faster, so we were about done by the time the masses flooded in from the evening show (featuring “Motown” music).  After dinner, we went to the piano bar, and got some last drinks, and M&MA had a last dance.  Then off to packing and wrap up the night/cruise!
