Day -1

And we’re off!!  Well, not yet.  We are going to the Great White North!  We’ve never been to Alberta (or Calgary), so this is a new Province for us.  (We’ve been to 5 of the 10 Provinces in Canada, and 2 of the 3 Territories.)  We have heard lots of things about Banff (the Canadian Rockies…much like the US Rockies, but more polite), so we are looking forward to checking out this new part of the world.

Unlike many of our trips, this was a collaborative choice, as we will be traveling with some friends from Houston.  (So we picked a place all four of us wanted to see.)  It might be a bit of a departure, as it is very outdoorsy, and normally, we are not.  Also, we looked at the weather, and the two days we plan to do most of the hiking, right now show temperatures of about 12°F (-11°C).  Brrrrr.   We might want a hat.  As temperatures here will be 60-80°F, we expect to look silly in heavy winter coats for our departure tomorrow.
