First view of the morning in Calgary.
Anyone thirsty?
Although it was mostly geared toward kids, it was actually
engaging and interesting for adults too.
So, most of us enjoyed the interactive displays, and activities. They had a cool domed theatre in which we
watched a presentation about the Milky Way (VERY well done, up to the point
where they tried to simulate a singularity (Black Hole) and apparently dragged
out a Commodore 64 for the graphics which made no sense). They had a presentation on fire, which was
enjoyable and got lots of oohs and ahhs.
But their water fountains left a bit to be desired.
After the museum, we went in search of lunch. Yelp to the rescue! Or not.
A highly ranked Chinese restaurant was our first choice! It was situated in a little shopping area
with all sorts of fresh and frozen unfamiliar foods on display. It was also closed for remodeling. So, our second choice was a highly ranked
Vietnamese sandwich shop, but they had no seating. So, we tried a third option boasting the “best soups”…Cash only! (with about $10CAD between the four of us, maybe not the best plan!). Not willing to give up on Chinatown, we chose the 3.5 star “Tasty
Chinese” restaurant certain that truth in advertising was on our side!! Actually, it was! We enjoyed it very much!
Curious,,,for a Chapel...even an airport chapel!
Ce and Charles took us up to the airport, where we had a
hotel reservation (since our flight tomorrow is at 6:40AM), and we got
situated. Then we took a walk to the
terminal to see how much time it required, and explored the airport (a lot of
shops and restaurants outside of security).
We spoke the airport police offer, who was really friendly, and then
found the Chapel, and stopped in for a short bit. Not exactly the interior “décor” we might have
expected!! Back to the hotel room for
some TV and repacking for tomorrow!!
