Ah, Sunday…a day of rest! We slept in this morning and made breakfast in the cabin. Then, we went in to town to see if we could contact someone for an issue with the lock in the cabin (called the emergency number last night, but only got someone who spoke Finnish who was in a bar). Unfortunately, no one was there. So, we went to the nearby Marian Chapel to spend some prayer time. Then, we went back and started laundry. Started with the whites, as we figured they were the least likely to be damaged. Unfortunately, all the buttons were in Finnish, of course. We could tell what was “Normal”, so we pushed a couple of buttons, turned it to normal, and set it off. ½ hour later…it was still buzzing, but nothing seemed to be happening. So, we looked around and saw – hey, you have to turn on the water. We did that, and it started filling and rotating right away. We wanted to stay through the first load, then get it drying to start the second load. Unfortunately, an hour later, it was still going…So, we went to town to look for Internet and get some lunch. Stopping at our favorite Finnish lunch location (a gas station), we had burgers, lamb kebabs (well, shaved lamb on french fries with some hot sauce), fries, and soda. One thing about the Finnish, they serve HUGE portions. People talk about how much the Americans serve…the Finnish are much the same.

So, then we drove around town with Bill’s iPhone out trying to find a signal. We finally did, but it was spotty. Went to a Booking/Information Center and they let us use their internet to get our reservation information. Also, looked up the directions on the washing machine….apparently, we told the machine to double-rinse and not spin….Hmmm…note to self…don’t push the buttons.
The rest of Sunday was quiet, with washing, drying (which is a hanging machine that heats coils, but doesn't always work, and our personal sauna. :-)
