Today
was sort of a short day. We stopped at a
little shopping place for a bathroom break and a chance to get wool. Then we continued to the morning feature…a rock
collection. Imagine a 6
th grade
boy’s rock collection, but instead of the boy, it was a woman who had been
collecting for decades. And instead of a
bedroom, it was her whole house and yard.
All of the rocks were from the region, and she pretty much carried most
of them back herself. But the bigger
ones, she, uh, well she had a way of making her expectations for help known and
let’s just say her children did as instructed.
It was an impressive collection, but 30 minutes felt like more than
enough time to look at rocks. (Sorry to
all of the geologists out there!)

| No. No no no no no never NO!!! And also, WHY?! |
 |
| Rocks. |
 |
| And more rocks. |
 |
| Theresa made a new friend!! |
 |
| It's a boat mock up. Just go with it! |
Our next
break had a little playground which we were told was not just for kids.
Mike and Bill assessed the rules, and seeing
the “No Shoes” symbol on the multicolored balloon/trampoline, and noting it was
on the blue red/green, but NOT on the yellow part, we kept our shod feet to the
yellow.
The next
stop was lunch, which was chicken, salad, and Happy Marriage cake. The chicken was surprisingly good. The cake was fine.

The bouncy inflatable trampoline... (kudos to the photographer...MAM!) |
On we went to a waterfall.
It was nice and a
short walk.
Bill took the trail to the
back side, but time didn’t allow a full exploration.
 |
| Look at all of those tourists on the tourist's trail!! :-) |
 |
| The fishing village of Djupivogur. (say that three times fast!!) |
 |
| Ice Cream!! In August. In coats. |
Finally,
we went to a little fishing village for a “comfort stop”.
There was an ice cream vendor, so naturally
MaryAnne and Bill sampled the local delicacy.
It is August, after all!!
This gave
us a 90 minute bus ride to the hotel.
The
misty slightly drizzly weather had most of the bus quiet, except the snorers!
But wait!
One more roadside stop to look at the steep slopes of the mountain, the
road, and see the black sand beaches.
Later
in the drive there was a spot with quite a bit more than seven swans a-swimming,
maybe a hundred. But it was on the other side of the bus, so you’ll just have
to take our word for it.
Or come see for
yourself!

| Steep slope to a black sand beach. |
 |
| More inaccessible beach! |
 |
| Check out the slope! Imagine having a sled!! |
 |
| Ahhh...finally! |
I kindof love that wool onesie! I would wear it (but maybe not outside the house) -KV
