| Barbados! |
Today was going to be our earliest tour – 8:45am. Which doesn’t typically sound early, but when
you are at an unknown port, and had read you needed to take a shuttle bus to
the port, that meant you want to be up, dressed, packed, and breakfasted when
the gangway opens at 8-8:15am.
 |
| Some marina along the way. |
Our tour today was a short snorkeling excursion to Carlisle
Bay, where they have sea turtle(s) and a sunken ship.
We had a brief tour through Bridgetown on our
way to Carlisle Bay – it was a nice, clean, and well kept up town.
There were several buildings that looked very
British.
 |
| Heading to our spot to look for turtles. The water is clear! |
 |
| The view from the boat. |
Upon arriving at Carlisle Bay, we signed our waiver (or at
least a page with all the people’s names on it) and waited a few minutes.
Then, on to our “glass bottom” boat (the glass
portion was about 3x5’ and was etched and scratched so that you really couldn’t
see through).
We went to the turtle place
first.
The crew brought some cut up fish
to draw animal life…which did include 1 Sea Turtle.
It also included 2 Manta Rays and a school of
fish.
So, it was nice – until the other 2
boats came by with their folks, and then it was just like being in a public
swimming pool.

| One sea ray!! |
 |
| Two sea rays! |
 |
| Yo, what's with all these long vertical fish? |
 |
| Green Turtle!! |
 |
| I'm outta here!! |
 |
| Where'd he go??! |
 |
| A whole lotta people in a small ocean! |
 |
| The sunken ship with a variety of marine life. |
Back to the boat, and on to sight #2 – a sunken vessel.
It must have been down there for quite a
while, as there were all kinds of barnacles and corral on the vessel itself,
and all kinds of fish.
I (Theresa) even
think I saw 2 eels, but the bottom of the bay was a little cloudy, so it was
more the shapes than the actual eels.
 |
| Look closely at the nearest vertical pipe... |
 |
| Peek-a-boo!! |
 |
| See, Bill can be spontaneous and "fun". |
 |
Not pointing fingers, but Bill had a mere 3/4" of drink, whereas Theresa... :-) |
Back on to the boat for time to go down the slide, and drink
some pineapple and coconut rum.
Then,
returning to the ship for lunch, writing the blog, and a nap!
We must be older, as every afternoon has
become nap time
😊.
In the evening, we had a trivia, then dinner, and decided to
end the night watching The Love Boat.
 |
| Not our vessel! |
 |
| A striking looking storm in the distance. |
