Martinique! Not a new country.

Part of our picture package.
Ah finally a little sleep in time!  We dispensed with any formal tours and decided to sleep a little late and take the day at our own speed.  So, after breakfast, we pulled together our stuff, and realized it was about morning trivia time.  We stopped there on the way out, and managed a meagre 13 out of 20.  Oh well, it was enjoyable.

From the pier to the island of Martinique.

The former City Hall.
We started our walking tour with Theresa, our tour guide.  We headed up to the former City Hall, which is now a theatre.  It was mostly closed up except for the foyer, so we peeked about and moved on.  At the Prefecture de la Martinique, or basically their main government house.  It…had a French flag over it.  Later when Bill added Martinique to his list of countries, and noticed the count did not go up, we confirmed that it is a part of France so not its own country.  Next we headed to the Cathedral.  It was a pretty building and cavernous, so even though it was hot outside, it was nice inside.  We spent some time.

TG Note - I think it's neat that the Cathedral was designed at the same time as the Eifel Tower, and they choose to design it similarly.  It is 100% metal.

The Prefecture de la Martinique (like the Governors house sort of)

A typical city street in Basseterre...with a ship in the back!

Inside the Cathedral of St. Louis, Basseterre, Martinique.

A view of the back of the cathedral.  Note the light airiness of the structure.

Local buildings.

St. Louis Cathedral.

McDonalds...but not in a "real" country.

We then moved on to another new country staple…Mc Donald’s!!  Except as we now know it wasn’t a new country, so the French Fries were a bit ironic on multiple levels!!

Back on the ship we hurried to start a load of laundry and then grab lunch.  After laundry, a nap was in order and then back to afternoon trivia, where our morning 13 was a pipe dream!  We eked out 10 shocked at what we don’t know.  But neither did most other groups so not so bad.

We got some food at the grill up on the 15th deck for sail away, then went down to the buffet to finish dinner.  We then went to an evening trivia for Movie Posters.  It was remarkable how bad we were!  That was enough for the night since we have an early morning tomorrow. So, back to our room for some original "Love Boat".

It was time to restock.  So, Theresa used
the app to order a bunch of stuff which
Bill crammed into the fridge!
