Day at Sea!

One thing we like about cruises is that we unpack once, and we get to see lots of places.  But, we are slowly beginning to appreciate the days at sea as much (perhaps more) than the days at port.  There is so much less to do, and we have more time to just relax and do little.  Today was one of those days.

We decided to have coffee in our room while slowly getting up and going.  Then they had something that sounded good.  And another, and before we knew it, we have a full-on breakfast in our room. 

It started as just a couple of cups of coffee...

After breakfast, there was a morning trivia, at which we scored so low it must not be reported here!!  We checked out a bit of the ship and found a long line for the Purser.  So, we went to lunch.

Wow!  You don't see hills on the open sea very often, do you?

They have some fancy “specialty” options for lunch on sea days, but they are included with our package, so we tried one.  Theresa got the lobster mac and cheese, and it was amazing!!  She also got a burger, which she really liked.  Bill’s choices didn’t quite wow us as much—partly due to the description not matching the dish, and partly because the dish wasn’t quite right.  (Poutine with the cheese curds missing?  C’mon!)  But we enjoyed most of it and our drinks. 

After lunch, we checked out some more of the ship, and then found a place to get a drink and dialogue, then went back for a nap.  Later in the afternoon, we headed back for the afternoon trivia.  This time, we joined up with a couple from Calgary, and together we managed 16 out of 21 points.  Not enough to win, but not embarrassing.

It was “formal night”, so we cleaned up and headed off to dinner.  In the main dining room, we joined a table for eight with two other couples and a solo traveler.  We had some nice conversation, and the food was good.  But the service was very slow.  So, if we wanted to see the magician, we had to skip dessert!

The magician was good, and then we headed to the buffet and ice cream bar for our late dessert.  Finally, we ended in the Music Trivia, where the theme was Classic Rock.  It was tough recognizing nearly every single song, but unable to think of the title or artist.  But we did manage 30 out of 40 points (which was not nearly enough to win since two groups were tied at 38).

The sea was getting a little rough so a quick night cap and we were off to bed to be rocked to sleep!
