Theresa and I got up a little early and tried to eat quickly
in the main restaurant. It was good, but
not fast. At 9:30, we headed for the Speed Sudoku Challenge. I
am usually pretty fast, so I was feeling good about our odds. Well, no one showed up, so 10ish minutes
later, we left. On the way back, we happened
by the Cruise Director’s office, so popped our head in to let them know. Well, the Asst C.D. gave us the points as if
we’d won. Maybe they were just nervous?

The Captain and his team teaching us how to use the sextant. (I promise, he wasn't as angry as he looks. Afterall, his team is smiling!) |
Back in our room, we met up with M&MA, and Theresa had
pulled up Mass online, and we watched it in our room.
We hung out on the 10
th floor for
a bit (Theresa reading a book, and Bill working on the puzzle) until 11:15.
The Captain was going to teach us how to use
a Sextant.
So, he arrived with about 5
junior officers, and proceeded to cajole his junior staff to teach us.
We give him a lot of credit, as he is often
trying to get his people involved and engaged, as well as the passengers.
Anyway, one guy went first, and there was a
lot of figuring things out.
The next guy
a bit faster.
Then by the third, the sun
was going behind the clouds, and it become more of a photo shoot and less of a
try and learn.
But it was still pretty
cool to try!
Everyone who tried it got a ridiculously
large certificate!

OK, so just point it at the sun right there behind the clouds, right? Yeah, we're hosed!! |

Mike working it out with some training, while the Captain explains things to the others. |

Snacks for TV. (No, we did NOT eat the potted plant!) |
After lunch, we went back to the room to watch a couple of
lectures we missed on spies, surveillance, and intelligence.
Theresa had asked our butler to bring a bowl
of chips, which made TV time more “homey”!
He threw in some popcorn as a bonus...We watched two of the lectures, and while
they were interesting, we were getting sleepy.
So we took a quick nap instead of heading to the (live) political
lecture.

| Hot Tub time!! |
4:45 is Trivia time!
We missed a few and ended up tying for second, which was still
good.
Afterwards, we changed into
bathing suits and headed for the hot tub!!
We got a couple of drinks and watched the sun set.
 |
| Pina Coladas at sunset! |
We decided after two very long meals, we wanted something
quick, so just went to the pizza place.
Well, they also do “Hot Rocks” there, and a number of other things.
Unfortunately, we let the options get the
best of us, and imagining the pizzas were “personal sized”, we got some to
share and some for each, and a couple of mains besides.
Nope!
These were like 12” pizzas, and we could have easily just shared two pizzas
for the four of us.
Service got VERY
slow once the place got very busy.
So,
two hours later we just wanted to be gone.
The food was good, but way too much.

| Dancing in our seats. |
We took a little break, before the Silent Disco party at 10. We've seen these before, with a hundred or more people be-bopping to their own tunes, but in complete silence. You get these headphones, and there are three channels, with different music on each. So, you pick the one you like and it's like three different parties. They are color coded so it illuminates with the light associated with your channel, so in theory one could go dance with whomever was on their channel (assuming one can tell what the colors are!). Wellllll... nobody was dancing. People were sitting around and either listening in their chairs, or had the headphones on the table while they talked. So, it was a little disappointing for Theresa. She made the most of it though, and then we went outside to star gaze a bit. The ship's lights are a bit too bright, but we could see some stars at least. At 11, they shut it down.

Where was that sextant? And where is Polaris? We are so lost!! Good Night!! |
