We went to the Sydney aquarium today. The highlight (i.e. purpose for us) was the platypus. They were really funny/cute swimming all around. They are very fast swimmers, but they only paddle with their front flippers and tail. Since they close their eyes, ears, and nostrils while under water, they have to sort of have to scurry around searching for food. But, they can sense electrical feilds, so they actually "sense" the muscular movement of "food" and track it that way. Watching them swim sort of reminds one of a kid playing in a swimming pool. Since they were so fast, it was very hard to get a good picture, so we resorted to a little video. Hopefully you will not have trouble viewing it, and hopefully, you will enjoy the video! We saw a jellyfish tank, and lots of predators, including crocodiles, and, well... :- )
There were penguins. We watched them swim and climb in and out of the water.
And there was a huge shark tank with dozens of sharks from 2-3 feet long, to 25 feet or so long.
