Sadly, we took the first step of our return trip with a
COVID test this morning. In 24 hours
we’ll know if we’re heading home or “stuck” here for the next 10 days. Hmmm….
What to hope for? But first, we
went to breakfast. Each time we go to a
restaurant, they ask our room number. I’ve
been dutiful in giving the simple answer, but finally I said “13 squared”. I got a blank look and she walked away. I sort of wonder if she heard or got it. Our lunch table...there at the end! Yeah!
On the bright side, our three days in the Beach Villa is at
a close and we’re moving to the Overwater Villas about Noon. We packed up, Theresa did a little necessary
work, and we hung out a little. After we
got our stuff, we said goodbye and good riddance to our sweaty bathroom, and
headed to swap keys and get lunch.
After lunch, we checked out our new digs!! A little jaunt down the jetty, and
voila!! The overwater villa is much
newer, brighter, lots more windows, etc.
Very cool!! Then…the bathroom…is
outside. Well, technically inside, but
no air conditioning and two louvered “windows” that are open to the outside. Ugh!!
Oh well. But they also have a nice
blue tooth speaker, so we could listen to some music. Not sure why this is so washed out.
| So, if people swim under, they can see in our bathroom? |
| Lots of sea planes here! |

SHARK!!!! (OK, he was like 2 feet long.)
We took the “Sunset Cruise” in the late afternoon and…well…the
sun hadn’t set while we were on the cruise, but it did go hide behind the
clouds. :-/ Also, we learned that our captain/crew can’t
count. Because there was a sign posted
on the boat that said the limit was 40 people, including crew. We counted about 42 plus the crew. ☹
There was an outdoor restaurant that served “Sri Lankan Street
Food”, which Theresa had really been wanting to try. We stopped by and they had some good things, and
some “meh” things. But the entertainment
was the real highlight. There were crabs
(Hermit?) all over!! In one space there
had to be about 10 per square foot (in an area at least 5x5 feet). The crabs ranged from about ½ of an inch long
to at least 2.5 inches long.
Crabs, anyone? (You can't even see the little ones!)
We stopped for dessert at the main buffet restaurant, and
then called it an early night. Well, we
might sit on the patio a bit but that’s going to be it!
I've always wanted to visit a place with these types of cabins/huts. So cool to see your photos!
