Typical last day of vacation: Get up, breakfast, pack, get out of
room. They picked up our bags at Noon,
and we headed off to lunch. Slight drama
with trying to catch a shuttle to the other side of the island so we ended up
just eating at the buffet, and sitting by the pool on that side. About 2, we went to the lounge(?) and took showers,
and got dressed for island flying (different than international flying!), then
sat in the air conditioned room near reception until our flight. Yeah, it LOOKS like this, but it feels like an broiler! :-)
So going to miss "His and Hers" Bacon!
Although we enjoyed our trip, neither of us were exactly sad
to be departing. Sometimes you just kind
of get to that point where you’re ready.
So we boarded our first of three flights and thus began our 30 hour journey
home.Our chariot awaits!
In Male (Mah-Lay)*, we transferred from the sea terminal to the land terminal, did the whole check in thing, and changed into jeans (I don’t fly in shorts for too many reasons, but in a sea plane, I figure it’s better to swim in shorts than jeans!), and then went to find the lounge. It was actually very nicely apportioned, with lots of nice seating. The food selection was slightly less than our spoiled standards (albeit better than the folks outside). But, we didn’t need to eat really anyway.
*Side note, the restrooms here are not labelled "Men" and "Women" but "Male" and "Female". So our running joke was "Mah-Lay" and "fe-Mah-Lay"!! Guess you had to be there. :-)
The flight to Doha was smooth and short (4 hours). But they served a nice little meal and the
dessert was as tasty as it was visually striking! Arriving in Doha, we found the lounge Theresa
can access, and she went to catch a little shut eye (so I’m doing the mid trip
update). Last flight is at 1:10 AM.Dinner! (This is normal, right?)
| Check out the dessert!!! |
