D6 – Land Ho!! No, wait, just another day at sea! (5)

We slept waaaay in, and finally got out for a coffee and then to an enrichment lecture.  This was about “Aviation”, so of course we had to check it out.  When the presenter showed up, and it was one of the cruise staff entertainers (who looked 16), we had some doubts.  But he was 50% older than we guessed, had his professional pilot's license, and had worked at a few airports doing ground service, so he had a few clues.  It wasn’t a bad presentation, though—reflecting on other lines where they have guest lecturers who get a free trip as payment—we pondered how we might parlay that topic into a series for Bill (and Guest!).

There was a presentation by the ship’s Engineering officers on technical aspects of the ship.  This was a time I really wanted to ask for a copy of the slide deck and read it on my own, as the First Engineer was just reading a giant slide of words!!  As this is a new ship, it (of course) has the newest technology which is Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) as one of the fuels they use.  The engines can run on LNG or Marine Gas Oil (or even diesel or kerosene).  During the Q&A, they searched around and popped up very interesting diagrams which I would have liked more time to analyze!!  But I got a few bad pictures!  There are LOTS of heads in the way, but I decided to go ahead and share tham since they were an integral part of MY view!!  I know a few Engineers who will actually read these looking for mistakes (looking at you KJH!), so...enjoy!!

This slide needs a picture!

Making water!

A DIAGRAM!!!  :-O

A SCHEMATIC!!!  Ooohh!!!

At our Progressive Trivia, we found out that our team was in second place!!  Today’s topic was history, and although we did well, we know we missed a few, so not sure how well we will hold our spot.  We decided to take turns banging on the door of the winner team in the middle of the night to maybe make them too tired to perform!  😊

After trivia there was another competition that looked fun, but was dumb and way too easy.  After dinner we saw the show (something about Broadway).  Theresa was happy.  Then we hurried to a trivia about Broadway, where we found another couple where the daughter was as excited as Theresa and the father seemed as excited as Bill.  The ladies worked together to get 26 points (out of 40), but they had fun.

All tied up...(about to start)

That was followed by a “game show” they called “Cold Turkey”.  It was a board where the players alternated choosing numbers.  Behind each number was randomly either chevrons (which was a pass), or a question mark (where they had to answer a trivia question), or an X which meant they lost a “life”.  Most of the trivia questions were SO easy, it was almost purely chance.  The first woman up there won all rounds, so at some point the room just sort of cheered against her.  Anyway, Bill gave it a try, but…the numbers were not in his favor!

Late into the evening (like 10:30) we headed out to a Rock & Roll Rewind Party.  You know we’re both such partiers, you can just imagine us sitting still and jamming on the inside.  I wonder why we keep having slow mornings?

Playing 50s and 60s Rock & Roll at 11PM...
doesn't draw a huge crowd.
But hearing the Hawaii 5-0 song was a surprise!
