Day 2 -- At Sea (1)

Today was…at sea!!  Despite waking up early (like 7 something), we poked around a bit, then Bill had a little work to attend to.  Next thing we knew, it was about 10:30 and time for breakfast.  Except, most breakfast places closed at 10:30.  Well, we got a little bit to tide us over, because we had intentions on lunch.

What a great LOOKING cake!
For lunch we went to the “Irish Pub” on board (a specialty restaurant), which featured Fish and Chips.  It was pretty good!!  For dessert, Theresa got this cake that sounded really good, and looked AMAZING.  Bill got an “Apple Cake”, which was really a “crumb cake” with a dried apple slice on top.  It…was unfinished.  As was Theresa’s cake.  But it was visually striking!

After lunch, it was time to see if the pillows work in the afternoon as well.  Good News!!  They did!  We headed to a Progressive Trivia contest, and agglomerated a small team of five.  There were 15 basic questions and one 2 point question about the ship.  Our team got all 15…which is a great start to the progress score.  Well our team needed a “Captain” and as it ended up being four guys and Theresa, the only way to balance the male egos was to make Theresa the Captain.  So, her name went on our score sheet.

We grabbed some sudokus and cross words and headed to the room to work through a bit of them, before taking a tour of the ship beginning on Deck 19.  It was very windy on the 19th, 18th, and 17th floors (mostly outside).  We headed back to the room to do very little until it was time for dinner.

Performers practicing in the forward "sphere"/dome.

Cioppino
We had reservations at the seafood (specialty) restaurant.  You’ll note a pattern?  We have a package that makes the specialty restaurants free, and Theresa had read that booking them on the cruise was nearly impossible, so she booked EVERY dinner in one.  We can cancel up to 24 hours in advance so we will at least go through a single round checking them all out.  But, the Italian one yesterday…we canceled the 2nd of 3 bookings.  Anyway, the food tonight was VERY good!!  Bill-ironically-had almost the same things as yesterday in the Italian restaurant (cioppino) followed by a seafood pasta plate.  It was a lot of shelling to do before eating, but the flavors were very good!  Theresa got their ‘catch of the day’, but the waiter did not confirm they actually caught it today (nor did he get the humor in it).

Dessert:  A very sweet styrofoam, with a sort of sorbet.

Not sure what's going on.  I know the elevators are slow, but...?

After dinner, we had a little down time (from the high stakes day of lounging) and then went to the big show, an aerial acrobatics show.  It was...artsy.  Apparently the couple performing won "France's Got Talent".  We left to hurry to the Rock & Roll trivia, but got there a bit late.  Still, we got 31 of 40 points, which made us happy (though maybe not as happy as the three teams that got 40/40).  We had fun though!  Until we set our clocks forward because, we're moving Eastward.  Good Night!!
